Hi folks,
Here are a couple of photos of yesterday afternoon's fig harvest. 15 Ronde de Bordeaux, and 6 Hardy Chicago (Bensonhurst Purple). Two of my favorite cultivars. As you can see, I like to let 'em get really ripe. Some of the more "overripe" ones were like jam. Tasted great. I'd rate this year's RDB crop as 10's, and the same for the Bensonhurst Purple. Different taste obviously, but I like 'em both.

p.s. they're predicting 35F tonight... gotta cover the trees... still LOTS of figs on them (a couple hundred figs that will still ripen if the leaves don't get frosted... lots of Conadria and Peter's Honey that are almost ripe, maybe 10 or 20 more HC, around 20 more RDB, and a ton of VDB and Petite Negri, then a handful of other varieties with less than 20 per tree).
