yield of a fig tree !

hello everyone
i need to know  the average yield per a fig tree
and does it change from variety to anther!
does caprification reduce the potential of fruit dropping in common varieties!
does the smyrna-type yield more when are caprified comparing to the common cultivars !
thanks for reading 😊

Yield varies all over the map based on tree size, climate, culture, etc.

Commons don't usually drop caprified or not.

thanks for reply
lets talk about an irrigated mature tree, with optimum climate ,except  +100 temperature in summer (similar to coachella valley in california)
what will be the expectations !
does the caprification process  in common cultivars increase the yield in terms of fruit ripeness !

Speezy,

indeed production is affected by many variables. But if you googled fig production or the like you would find a number of studies that would give you some idea about what to expect given certain conditions. Here is the example of a 1994 UC Davis report "Sample Costs to Establish a Fig Orchard & Produce -- Figs Black Mission in The San Joaquin Valley"

Cheers,
Marcel

Where are you located?
I can see these numbers with a productive tree, but not all trees equally produce. I have some trees in their fifth leaf that have not produced yet and this year will be their first.
Unless the tree has a massive root system, your results will be all over the place, therefore in addition to many variables, the type of soil that you have will determine how fast and how much your tree will produce.

SAS: you are right there is so much to consider. These are not my numbers they are extrapolated to a per tree basis from a University of CA Davis report. This report obviously is for reference on commercial orchards (155 trees per acre) with proper maintenance and cultivation in the San Joaquin Valley! Obviously not the weight of figs I can look forward to in Minnesota. I shall be ecstatic the day I get a pound or two of figs on my potted-trees....

My purpose was to show Speezy that, by searching the internet for info, reading those reports from different regions and addressing different varieties, one can get some sense of the amount of figs one might be able to obtain under conditions noted in those reports.

As to what Speezy might get from his large, ground-planted fig tree, well perhaps local, research-minded members can give him data on number of figs, pounds of figs or buckets of figs they have picked on their trees!

Cheers
Marcel

well  , thanks for your informative replies Mr Marcel.
for SAS, im Libyan , the area im growing figs in is similar in climate to coachella valley, almost perfect climate for figs  except  95-100 degree weather in summer ,
the soil is sandy , the neighboring farms in area producing high-quality dates.

This is an academic exercise with no realistic data being supportable even on a short term basis.  If you are considering raising fresh figs for profit, good luck, if you are considering raising fresh figs to dry, good luck (there is  a large amount of water required to produce marketable dried figs) they are soaked prior to drying so that the water content of the figs is consistent.

For whatever reason you are seeking this data......Good Luck!
