You stare at every tree you drive by wondering if you'll spot a fig tree, and when you do see one....you're happy as heck. When you're a fig addict, you log onto this site every hour of the day hoping you didn't miss out on anything. You know when you're a fig addict, when  you get frustrated when you meet people who don't appreciate figs. The worst part is I'm just starting out. How extreme do thing get for everyone else on here?    You know you're a fig addict when.....

you have already found fig trees in 3 different towns before you have bought your first fig tree...

well, I bought a small tree at the third place, a local orchard/berry farm/winery where my wife and I were walking around during their open house last weekend, and my mouth dropped open with amazement when I noted their 15 or so 6 ft tall potted figs, and when I asked the owner he sold me a 2 ft tall Hardy Chicago out of his little greenhouse.  :)

In the yard I don't have to walk more than 12 steps to get to the next group of trees!

Your a fig addict when your spare bathroom is a cutting nusary, your laundry room hoses the taller plants under the grow lights there.the wife said she wanted more lighting and I deliverd. The bathroom houses many larger figs under grow lights. Again she wanted more light ;-). The top of the freezer and fridge servea as a heating mat for root growth. And planning to build a shed just for round year figging with heat, lights, and solar panels. Your an adict when you remove 60 foot of black berries 30 foot of raspberries, and three arbors of grapes just to make more room for figs. Now I am trying to get my mom on the fig wagon so we can plant on her land.

Yeah I think I got problems. But its so fun to be this figgen fruity ;-)

You spend half of your free time reading up on different varieties and the rest of your free time trying to find someone to sell you one.

When fig season is over for you, you stand in your garden rubbing your fig leaves and sniff them because they at least smell like figs and dream about eating them next season.

When you wonder why it took you so long to realize how awesome figs are and wonder how many fig trees you passed by in your life that you missed getting a cutting from.

When you see a fig tree and think,;" mmmm, wonder how I'm gonna get a cutting from that one.

You start mapping every where you've seen a fig tree growing and make plans to revisit the tree when you think it'll have some ripened up some figs.

You feel anxious during fig growing season because you just don't know which of your fig babies will produce that year.

You consider chasing squirrels out of your yard and ask your kids to chase them if you have to step away from your patrol during fig ripening season in your yard.

When your kids think every box the mail man brings you has a fig tree in it.

When you begin to wonder when you will be finally able to stop collecting trees or cuttings then shake of that silly thought because deep down you like figs so much and they bring a little happiness in your corner of the world.

I could think of more but, I think that you get the picture. :)

I know that God loves me because He made so many kinds of figs!

Your driving around NYC with coworkers, just happened to see a fig tree out the window.  You point it out to your coworkers whom think you have lost your mind and don't give two shits about it.  You then find yourself consumed by finding more fig trees.

What about bringing them in for the winter and caring for them at every second of the day (if we could  that is).
thinking what pots to buy for next summer and for which variety.

dreaming about figs, fig leaves and fig roots, root rot being a nightmare.

sharing all of this with people that like figs too.

sums it for me

I cant stop thinking about figs. I dream about figs. I think about figs all day. I look at the pictures of figs on here. Sometimes when I'm sad I watch fig videos. There is just something about fig trees that is so peaceful. I look at my trees everyday. I talk to people about figs and they look at me funny, but I cant help it. I drive around looking for fig trees and ask my neighbors about their fig trees. Sometimes I stay up late and eat strawberry jam and pretend I'm eating a black madeira.
