I've walked past it while in San Antonio... but never been there. It's a pretty name for a restaurant... Just checked and they don't have any figs on their menu.

I've never heard of it. Will check it out next time I'm that way. I'm a good 5 hrs.drive away.

Louis,

between my truck and trailer I'm at about 73' total.
Which makes it a little difficult to visit many places. Not to mention the No Truck Zones. The fines can be very costly, Depending on how rich the area is.

But it sounds like good a place to visit, I can always rent a car.
I will put it in the places to visit list.

Was there last weekend for a graduation(Not the restaurant but happened to walk by). The tree must be at least 20ft tall. The heat island effect probably helps it being in the center of the city's concrete jungle.

Lou,

I have never been there!

Like Rafed said when we were working our rig would have been a no,no around there!

And now that we are retired it is about 270mi from here!

But we DO have this place here!

I believe someone that signed up for the forum in 2009 mentioned taking cuttings from that tree and rooting them. Havent seen her around in over 12-14 months though. My memory is a little faint though.

I can't forget the figs I've eaten while working in San Antonio, there's a farm market on the weekends and several fig growers sell their figs for good prices. They grow the Blue Giant, which I found to be average, but they have a version of Celeste that was excellent. I'm sure it wasn't the real Celeste, these figs were yellow and similar to the Encanto brown turkey photo above. I bought several pounds of fresh figs. I wish I was able to talk them into getting some of those cuttings.
