You think tree rats are bad....

So, I'm walking around the corner of the house where my small, young fig collection is. Something catches my attention. It's a pig with its snout in a pot. Now, it's my pig LOL. We have a small farm and one of the girls escaped. Luckily, she was just checking out a pot that has some other trees in them and didn't damage them. We have the pigs behind electric fence. I'm thinking it's time to put some electric around the figs in case. After all, it could have been a scouting attempt rather than a mostly innocent escape.

Jeff,

Figs and pigs a great combo!

Are you growing your own prosciutto for the desert Mike posted a few days ago?

Fatten her up. Sweeter than acorns.

Tami, making prosciutto from my own pigs is high on the list. I did make duck prosciutto this year.

John, I don't know about fattening them up. If all of my figs ripen, it will be two figs... and I ain't sharing.

Jeff

Figs wrapped in bacon.

Emmmm

Fig glazed pig.

Go Jeff!!! That's awesome! I think raising your own and being self suffecient is wonderful and I really wish we had the room to do it. What else are you raising?
You know we are gluttons for punishment....do you have any pictures you would like to share? The pictures on here are keeping me so well fed I almost don't need to eat anymore....weeeeell maybe I do. :)

Pig newtons it's what's for breakfast! LOL You certainly do have a unique situation there. I imagine those pigs would make short work of your figs if given the opportunity, proceed with caution!

We raise heritage Gloucestershire Old Spot hogs, dairy goats, all kinds of poultry and waterfowl, 3 sheep, a beef cow, and an alpaca. The alpaca and cow were surprises from my step-dad, as in, him showing up saying, "Look what I bought for you".

There are tons of pictures on our website,

Jeff

You should grow some brown turkeys to feed the pigs, in europe they feed less desirable varieties to the livestock.

So I guess when pigs fly that would be a fig growers nightmare.

Quite a menagerie and no shortage of manure which is always a good thing.

BLB,
That's what I keep trying to convince myself of when I'm shoveling all that manure...
