We live in a Hardscrabble place.  We didn't know for what we signed up, but Eugene and Spencer give us a lot of ideas.  They are on cable, and we watch them on that 3-D channel, but they are called hillybilly boys elsewhere.

Build a house?
Plant a tree?
Home made whisky?
Skin a cat?

Rafed, all of that, plus!  Eugene Runkus and Spencer 2 dog Bo Jack, are my new best friends!  JD agrees!  They have inventions that are amazing.  OT, I know, but one of the shows we love.

You should watch them build a lean to!  I know how to do it if the occasion arrises.  You should see them cross rivers on vines.  You should see them make fire with no matches. 

Yep!  I'm sold!

last time i started fire with flint and steel, the cub scouts thought i was a minor god. lol

oh... last backpacking we had a stream crossing while everyone were discussing how to cross it, i took my boots off, put on sandal and just walked throught the stream. they looked at me like i cheated.

Where do you find the flint?  We live on this rocky mountain.  Which rock is flint?  How do you know?

i usually buy them. black english flints are the best. steel, you need old carbon steel. also easy to just buy it. if you are handy, you can make one out of old tools.

whole idea is to create friction by having sharp flint cut through relatively softer steel. this creates friction and therefore spark.

you need to catch this spark, on a tinder. char cloth is what you need.

A good old fashioned Zippo and a bottle of lighter fluid gets the job done all the time.
They'll be talking about the bon fire for weeks if not months.

Get the marshmallows!

See? they are adorable! Both of them!!  Lean, lanky, and they both have dammn dimples!!  Sigh, but JD has those dimples too.  I'm going to Ebay to order that flint thing just in case!  We are pretty much overwhelmed with the land we own.

I know, off topic, but wonder what they would do if we sent them fig cuttings!!

We are addicted to that show!  We do have those 3D glasses, and we watch it in 3D.  But we watch the non 3D also.  What they come up with is amazing!!

I never thought a man named Eugene Runkus was kinda hot!!
