Your worst bug problem this year?

For my fig plants, the leaf hopper has been the worst problem.
Despite birds, frogs and toads, they have been everywhere
and seem to come in different colors that perfectly blend in.
For the most part, they seem to bite the stems and move out
of sight like a squirrel when approached.  Some leaves have yellowed
and others curled upward.  Any ideas to control these pest without using a strong insecticide that would also kill the frogs is appreciated.  See pic.

Leaf hopper destroyed my blueberries, I had blueberriess bushes in pot they all died.  I had a huge crop!

My wife keeps bugging me, saying I have too many figs

I had aphids on some of my young rooted figs recently. They are outside in gallons, and rather lush. The aphids seemed to appear out of nowhere and where already on the younger leaves of several plants before I noticed. I squished most of them gently between my fingers (wearing gloves) and wiped and hosed others off. I looked the next day, wiped a few more off, and now a week or so later, they seem to be gone. But aphids are relatively easy to deal with. There are lady bugs and syrphid fly larvae that help even if I don't see them working. :)

Lol, Good idea Gina. I'll have to look into that.

BLB and Gina, I too have the "w--e" bug, but she is right.  I probably have
200 + figs, with about 40 being in ground and the rest potted, spread out all over the back yard, and little space left for flowers. Anyway, this year has produced a bumper crop from in ground figs; enough to share with friends, relatives, birds, bugs, enemies, etc. I do have one huge unknown purple fig that is so tasteless that even the pests avoid it like the plague, and another small dark fig that is so good, the birds dive bomb me
when I pick the figs.

I have not had many problems with insects this year. I have a bumper crop of frogs and lizards doing patrol on my fig trees. One type of brown tree frog actually sits on the figs and waits for the ants to get near the eye and zap the ants are lunch. I did find one june bug today. He did not see me coming and I am quite sure the last thing that went through his mind was his tuckus. Sorry, I cannot help you with the insecticide.  I have nothing against them, I just don't use them.

No bug problem here to mention although the mosquito's tested positive for west nile in traps set in our town and our county also.
Thats not the way i want to go out !

They need a way to sterilize them darn mosquito's there useless in my book.

There is plenty of other new bugs that wondered over to this country for critters to eat i dont think they would be missed to much.

ants. they are all over. they found the figs. but so far, i haven't eaten one yet, so i'm not too worried.

Oak Borers. Soon one of the 90' tall, Red Oaks in my property have to be removed. Such a shame to lose a magnificent tree to these bugs.

Navid.
