Here are pics of my favorites this year. Most of my trees did not get full sun, so I didn't get the full sweet taste.......The Celeste and the Kadota got full sun, so that's why the high praises.

1. Celeste was my Family's Favorite.....it was sweet and they said even the skin was sweet.
2. Preto Fig,  Wowsa that's what everyone is talking about, it had a slight grape/punch taste.
3. The Kadota was in Full Sun and it got Very Sweet, Family loved these.
4. Raspberry Flavored and Strawberry Verte were next, they are very identical, Love that Berry Taste.
5. Ronde de Bordeaux could of been No1. but it didn't get full sun, So maybe next year it will be No.1
6. Napa White was a good tasting fig, it was sweet
7. Zidi, It will probably be No.1 Next year, a big fig with a lot of flavor.

Will be moving my trees this fall, will also plant the better ones.

The Zidi is a top fig in my book. I plan to put it in the ground in full sun, So it should knock my socks off. I ate my first Preto today from a graft. I fell in love with the taste......  the problem at the moment is I have my trees almost stacked on top of each other....LOL   My brother and I are looking at renting some land for our hobbies.   Don't Believe I have the wasp, I have Gnats..LOL    My trees are in 2 locations, I live in Exeter, you can google the location to see how far I am from the Fresno area.
The wasp is in the Fresno/Madera area.

the word out is that Zidi needs a wasp...so you must have it, or there is gossip going around about it.

The Collector who sold it from me, said there was a dispute about that.  If Jon says it needs a wasp, then it's Written in Stone. Anyone else....????
I would love to spar with a fellow collector, but I am still new....LOL

Thanks Aaron, been waiting for Fig Fiesta pictures like everyone else....and I decided to put up my favorites.  Last year's favorite was the Brown Turkey, under the proper watering and full sun, that explodes in a caramel flavor.  Thanks for the offer of the Caprifig.  My mom has one Caprifig tree about 8 miles away from me.

Armando, I suspect the wasp is in the Exeter area.  There are enough wet areas around there (run-off from irrigating orchards, yards, etc.) that a lot of fig seeds will likely sprout.  About half of all seedlings are caprifigs.  I'm not in fig country but I find caprifigs with wasps all around here, often right under my nose (almost).

You are probably right, if they can be up in your area, then they can be over here. 

They are easiest to spot in January-February when fig trees have no leaves.  The mamme crop hanging on leafless wild fig trees are pretty easy to spot from a distance, though citrus groves in the area can obscure some of them.

Zidi does need the wasp. Grew it here in Charlotte for years. I are my share of them last week. It has the complete package, huge, super sweet, tangy, and very rich.

What is the history/origin of the 'Raspberry Flavored' fig?  A local unknown?

Francisco, I thought about you every time I see my Preto doing well, you told me a couple months back how lucky I am to have a successful Preto graft, you were So Right.....Dennis, Thank You, I didn't see any wasp saw gnats....LOL.....Thanks Ed, I have been a photographer since 1983, history on the Raspberry Flavored: It is an Unknown from the neighborhood, it is basically an abandoned tree. The fruit normally is small to medium on the tree. Tastes exactly like Strawberry Verte, but has different shaped leaves. I sent cuttings to a fellow collector about 2 years ago, well on visiting him he had a very healthy 3 foot tall tree ( I am bad at rooting...LOL). So I bought it off him. The potting mix and consistent watering created a good size fig with the Strawberry Verte taste.....jdsfrance: it was syrupy, I probably did pick that one day to soon, it was good. The other two that I ate were very syrupy looked like a mango in texture.

Armando, I'd be shocked if you didn't have the wasp.  Get a caprifig with figs on it in the winter if you want to be sure.

The Wasp may be around if Harvey drove by the area, he probably dropped off some...LOL   I read on Facebook that a person was selling Turkish cuttings to the Indonesians/Malaysians, that needed the wasp. They were upset at paying top money and growing a tree that doesn't produce a good fruit. My Zidi tree is about 3 feet tall with a few branches. I would love to give out cuttings in the future. I have been planning of putting it into the ground at my Mom's backyard.

I haven't driven in your neighborhood for about 18 months.  My friend that was my best man lives on 5 acres east of town but just grows citrus.  Just from driving through the area and seeing some ditches and old streams, etc., I'm sure the conditions are right for there to be many wild caprifigs.  Caprifigs are wasp condominiums. :)
