I think it was Mike that posted his top 10 about a year ago on the other forum and zingerella was near the top. I went looking for it and finally my good friend Rafed came through with a whip, cut it in to 5 pieces and all took. Started it in the winter and it was planted in ground March 15th. It grew great and was able to put some airlayers on it a month or so ago. Today I was checking the airlayers and what do I see a ripe fig:) It was excellent and for the first fig from a bush a few months old I was truly impressed.

Wills, my Zingarella bush is loaded but I am still waiting on the first ripe fig (rooted in spring of 2013).  This is one of the healthiest figs I have - the leaves always look perfect with no splotches to be seen  I'm glad that both you and Mike think highly of the flavor.

Steve, my small Zingarella also has super healthy leaves, and especially large leaves probably for being planted in partial shade.

Wills, I'm have trouble making out the color of that fruit. Is that typical color? Is it red, brown, maroon, or...similar to what other cultivar's color?

Wills, that's a nice looking fig. Great that it's a healthy grower and roots well too, maybe it'll get around so that I can cross it off of my list. Everyone seems to agree that it's a tasty fig. Hopefully you'll taste a few more this season.

It is more reddish I suppose.  Far as typical it is the first ripe one I have seen so out of 1.yes it is typical :)
