Hello,

I discovered this forum a couple months ago and have been lurking trying to learn how to start growing some figs. I live in Buckeye, AZ, a suburb of Phoenix in zone 9B. I purchased my first fig from a local fig grower. He also gave me cuttings of about 4 varieties so I could start learning to root them.

I ordered some Dominick cuttings (which I have received) and I picked up another half dozen varieties at a local scion exchange event a couple days ago. Being a newbie, I am not sure I will have much to contribute here initially, but I wanted to at least introduce myself to the community. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

welcome, I am relative new comer to the forum and have learned a ton by reading the ongoing posts as well as using the search.

I'm from Eastern MA so i need cold hardy plants and this forum has been an extremely valuable resource.

I know there are a few members in your area that might be able to provide advice for you.

Welcome Deramus. You certainly should have a great climate for figs there.

Welcome to the forum Daramus, the Dominick is a good variety to start out with. I had 6 cuttings, all rooted quickly, even one was planted upside down, it rooted, leaf growth was headed for the pot, I pulled it out, stuck it back in correctly, old roots exposed dried up, new roots emerged and vegetation growth is headed toward the sun. So, even I could not hurt them.
