Very interesting!
We do not know if the photo is of the mentioned variety though but looks like O'Rourke to me.
And they can even ship to CA!

~yes i wondered about cal. shipping too.~thanks for response ,alot of times they put new names on figs i am confused ~

The fig looks a lot like LSU Tiger (picture experience only so far) but not at all like my O'Rourke.  My O'Rourke is a little slimmer, not as plump appearing

I just called them they didnt know what i was referring to. And told me to call vack in spring. Its a sales ploy to get you to buy a orourke under another name. In my opinion

I found the fig in the fig section of a gurney 's seed catalog. Same name, same picture, and similar description. Pictures a bit blurry.

Yeah those companies produce a trade name. They have done this to many common raspberries, and stone fruits. An example is the Niwot black raspberry they only referred to as "Sweet Repeat"* The LSU figs if they had a copyright has expired, so they can call it anything they want. It is not a new variety that's for sure.
