I'm getting conflicting reports as to whether or not Fiorone di Ruvo requires the wasp
or not. Bass says it's a San Pedro type and does require the wasp for the main crop,
while I have a friend that grows it and adamantly states that it doesn't. Does anyone know
for sure. Thanks

San Pedro type figs by definition require the wasp for the main crop.
However some do produce the odd fig without the wasp.  Desert King also a san pedro type as an example produces tons of 1st crop figs(breba/fiorone) and drops most of the main crop without the wasp.  But many (including me) people report that some main crop figs do ripen although they are inferior to the 1st crop figs.

Looks like a great fig.
By the way funny how I can't find any reference for "fiorone di ruvo" on Italian nursery websites?
Did this name originate on this side of the pond?  A synonym for this is Italian weeping fig which is also sometime a synonym for Sal's Corleone.

It's known and desired for good quality breba.  Any main crop would be a bonus.  Once you grow it you can tell those of us who want to grow it.  :)
