Here's the first Tena(RR) main crop fig this season. Med. size, firm, thin skin, very sweet with medium richness, did not split or sour in our recent rains. Delicious fig to me but my fig palate is very limited. I should have pruned it back harder this winter for more branching, but didn't. I ended up with a lot of long branches with a few figs at the ends. Next season, I'll definitely prune it hard. Hope you enjoy the picture. My (UCD) Tena fig leaves certainly do NOT look like that (narrow finger-like). __________________ George, NJ_z7a.

Thank you Sal. George, do you happen to have a picture? I find this very interesting. Mine matches up with the pictures at the F4Fun Variety Page. Figs are definitely trying of a man's patience,lol. The pulp started out amber on the first ones I got late last year, and got more strawberry color as the season progressed. I've noticed this both on the Tena and the Atreano. Is this normal for the pulp to change color in the same season? I see on the varietal page there are both amber & strawberry pulp shown.. Sorry, I do not have a pic. Just went out to re-examine my Tena leaves. There are a few Brunswick-like ones, but not with as narrow/parallel finger/edges as yours. __________________ George, NJ_z7a.

George, just went out and looked again and found three more types of leaves on the Tena other than the first one I posted. Maybe this will help. Do any look familiar? I hope this thread is not a duplicte. Mine just disappeared. I just checked the leaves on my Tena. They are exactly like the pictures you posted, Tim. I ordered the cuttings from UCD in 2008. No figs in 2009, the first year. Right now it has 20 main crop figs. Although it has been very hot here for the past two weeks it will still be awhile here in the northeast before they are ripe so I don't know what color the inside will look like. I'm anxious to see what I'm going to get from many of these trees bearing for the first time this year. Peg

Gorgi, Our growing conditions are fairly similar. I checked again. I have two trees. Without splitting hairs I'd say that Tim's 1st picture of three leaves is the most representative of mine with the one on the left and the one in the center being predominate and fewer of the extremly thin one on the right. George & Peg, thank you much for the confirmation. This is only it's second year although it's 7' - 8' tall and almost as wide. The birds got the two just almost ripe this morning, so out to buy more bird netting.
