Bought as Lsu Purple, but...thought it might be Lsu Gold based on shape and similar leaf, until I cut it. White pulp. Sweet fig, not very rich, reminded me of honey. Probably should have gone a couple more days, but knocked it off trying to protect it from the birds. Any help much appreciated. Sorry for the crummy picture, I'll try again on the next ones.

yes, you should have gone a few more days and it would have become dark and visible.

See LSU Gold I am thinking the leaves are not right, They need to be pretty squat and flat across the bottom.

Hey Jason--That's been happening to me, as well--It's a plot--They're gaslighting us, trying to get us to believe there are photos when there are none..... :) Vivian

Jon, I found this one on the varietal page that is a dead on match to the fig, said to have white pulp, but no pix of the leaves or pulp. White of Argenteuil. I know this is a long shot, but what other squatty no neck yellow figs have white pulp?

Hey Tim leaf is somewhat similar to my Excel. My plant is still small and no figs yet but Marjo posted pics of his Excel before same source as my plant and I believe it had white pulp.http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3676890

Thanks Nelson, that is a pretty close match. I knew I had seen a picture before that looked like that, but couldn't find it. The figs were smaller, more elongated and extremely sweet last year. As you can see, they are much larger & squat shaped this year. I'll post some better pictures, when the next one ripens. I'm letting it ripen fully to get a better taste and better idea of what it might be.
Well I just looked at the varietal page and I don't think the leaves are right for Excel either and this is more squat shaped too. It's gonna be a crap shoot, I guess.

Sassy, The important thing is taste. If it tastes good, and performs well, the name is less important.

Jon, I worry (for some) that mentality can lend to the fig confusion that we deal with day to day. I am not trying to call you out or knock you - I know you mean it in the "right" way, but the other "wrong" side to that mentality could be "it tastes good, who cares about the name, let's give it some other name", etc. Just food for thought, not intended as an insult or attack.

Jason, You make a good point about that. I find trying to figure out what figs are what is very confusing. It's the same with the description of the eye. Some places say a fig has a closed eye, a tight eye, an open eye that is closed with honeydew drops about the same fig. Vivian

Okay, here are some more pictures. I do agree with Jon about the taste & performance being the most important, but would still like to know what this one is, if possible. I could name it Texas Honey or Tim's Yellow, but not sure what purpose that would serve. Like Jason & Vivian said, then there would be another fig out there with several names--- adding to the confusion. This is a clue, maybe, it has an extremely small eye and does not hang down when ripe. They stay pointed up at an angle. Any & all help is appreciated. P.S. forgot to say the fig was very sweet like honey and had a medium rich taste.

Herman & Sal, thanks again, I will always trade it as an unknown. Man a guy can really accumulate a lot of unknowns without even trying. I had already decided it wasn't LSU Gold in that it doesn't droop when ripe, and the pulp is white with no cavity. It's still a keeper for now.

I keep toggling back and forth looking at Tim's fig, my Green Turkey and Sal's. I don't think they are the same. I think mine is an Unknown. Maybe my LSU Gold will ripen soon and then I can take pictures side by side, fruit to fruit, leaf pattern to leaf pattern.

Hey Tim I have a few Unknowns myself. It is what it is, and if you enjoy the taste then that is what it is all about at least for me it is. Hopefully they will get passed around and possibly be identified. The search is part of the fun for me.

Here's another pic. I took this morning. They are a little watery from the rain, but still taste fair. No splitting or souring. These are much more squat than the first ones
