Bass, I have not been growing figs long enough to be any type of expert on identifcation. But, doesn't this leaf picture of Salem Dark remind you of either Hardy Chicago or Sal's (Gene strain)? Is there any more info on it.

Nelson, the picture shows about 1-gallon pot. If it was my plant, I would up-pot it to the next size. I just up-pot mine after seeing your pictures. I had started it in early May and it shot up after quick rooting but no fig embryo which is better for this year. I thank the donor. __________________ Ottawan-Z5a, Canada

Hey Akram, believe it or not its in a 2G pot, but its definately outgrown in it. I recently got a bunch of containers from a landscaper we deal with so I will definately be putting this bad boy into a bigger pot this week. Plants have been watered twice a day and soil is still drying out too fast. __________________ Mississauga, ON, Canada Z5B/6A

Thanks Paul its been allot of hard work but worth all the effort, still a newb in the fig world but have learned allot in the last year did some grafting yesterday and taught the wife how to do airlayers this weekend. Although she hates figs so she says shes never had a fresh fig only dried. Little Jasmine just stares at my fig trees and I tell her FIG can you say FIG lol wife thinks im nuts shes probably right. __________________ Mississauga, ON, Canada Z5B/6A

Hi Nelson. I'm pretty new at this too, and yes it's been some work. But this morning, I went down to the fig orchard, and there were lots of BTs, Italian Honeys, and Chicago Hardys super ripe and ready to eat. And as I tasted the Italian Honey (which was unbelievably good) and picked a bunch to take into the kids (we have three boys ages 7 to 11), I thought: "This is definately worth the effort!" ;-) Can't wait to get home!
