So, I have this friend at work,  really nice funny guy.  His great grandmother brings the root of a fig over in her socks from Italy.   He says the fig has been in his family for a long time.  They come from south of Rome.   Actually he's part of the reason I got into figs.  He brought some in last year and they were pretty good.   Last week, I say, you should bring me in some cuttings.  He told me just stop by and go in my back yard and grab them when you have time.  So I did.  Attached are photos of the fig tree which he covers with a tarp and then Plywood.  I figured I would keep one and give the other one back to him so he could share with his relatives.  The lower branches where touching the ground and had air-layered and should speed up the rooting progress.  3 total plants should come of that adventure.
