How predictive is the color of a figlet's ostiole (eye) to the color of the mature fig?

....or, does it only reflect the interior fig color?.

For example, in the attached photo (NJ Red Unk) the ostiole is pinkish. The mature fig will eventually be reddish inside and out.

In other words, can we predict the color of an unknown fig from the ostiole color?

I only have 4 fig bearing trees this year, so I can't not be sure of others. However, two dark figs have dark eye, and two light figs have white eye. One of the light fig is Paradiso Gene, and it has red interior. However, eye is white. Other light fig is White Greek. Not sure why the interior of this fig is, but the eye is white.

No:For example Battaglia and Adriatic JH have white to very light pink eye when fruits are young and when fruit is ripe it is dark red in interior.
Most of the time a red eye turn out to be red inside and dark outside but there are exceptions, many !

Thanks guys.

I have a bunch of unknowns fruiting for the very first time and wanted a means of predicting the fig's color.

Would it be safe to say that if there is any color in the eye, chances of having a fig with a dark interior is high although the exterior could be dark or light?

And a totally white eye would indicate a very high probability of a light fig?

A dark eye is generally indicative of a darker colored interior. No absolutes in figs.
