A few weeks ago, fig friend TusconKen drove all the way from his town to my town to drop off a LSU Purple airlayer he made. Not just a little one either. It was 4 feet tall with figs on them to boot. Since I was out of town, my husband met him and thought this was the nicest gesture ever. My husband's not a fan of figs, but even he was impressed with it. About 2 months ago, I had just been told that the ebay seller whom I purchased an LSU purple from couldn't deliver to AZ. In an amazing coincidence, within seconds, TusconKen contacts me and says he would do an airlayer for me. Well, this fig beats anything I could have gotten on Ebay. It is a very healthy and already a tree instead of a small rooted cutting. I pulled a small ripe one off today and it was quite good. Another bigger one is getting there soon. Thank you for your generosity Ken. Fig folks sure are great!

Hey, it was my pleasure--but I probably wouldn't have responded so quickly if my tree didn't need pruning! ;-) Thanks, yourself, for the mulberry cuttings. I've managed to kill most of them, but I'm still optimistic that I'll end up with at least one that roots. Now you know why I like doing air layers--I can't kill them!

What kind of mulberry are you trying to grow? I have a very small Pakistani mulberry I could send your way.

Another ripe fig today. TucsonKen: My mulberries didn't root either in AZ, but they do great in CA. Maybe too hot or something. Still over 80 in the house even with A/C on. But in Ca, I just put them outside in soil with an overturned glass jar and all my figs and mulberries are rooting. Once they get stronger, I can send one over.
