Are they pups?  Watch them when you move trees out in the Spring for chewing the trees back, it happened to me last year and with the new one this fall before wrapping them.

Very cute. I hope they don't develop a taste for fruit. Mine love all fruits and veggies. My future house will have a separate gardening space and doggy space :)

god.. they are handful. two sisters from same litter. so different from each other in personality. lucy is more dominant, but she is also more cautious. barrett is happy go lucky. i got up at 5:30 to get to work and they saw me. they were so happy to see another living being around them. try to take them out to do their business, but it was raining outside. i brought them in to think of something to do and they just let it go.. urgh.. had to clean up before coming to work. so cute. i didn't know they can spend money like that. now the sales person at petco knows me by my first name... sigh..

Hey Bullett those are an adorable pair . I grew up with dogs and have a pair at home a Lhasa mix and a Akc Yorkshire Terrier whose grandfather according to the AKC documentation papaerwork was some sort of first in its class champion winner - probably most pain in the backside cause his grandson Romeo -ours is a real doozie !
Yours appear to have a terrier mix in them . They could be a combination of Cairn Terrier
with Scottish Terrier mixed in taking on its black coat and who knows what else but thats just a guess.

martin, apparently, the father is a pure bred schnauzer and the mother is a border collie mix. so they are some sort of working dogs i guess. they love being outside. when we take them out for walk, they are busy looking for things and sniffing everything on the ground. the one sitting down in the picture is lucy. she's the dominant one. the standing one is barrett. barrett won't go anywhere unless lucy is there to lead. but barrett is much more outgoing. lucy is very cautious. i'll have to take them to vet this thursday to check them out. being dominant, i would think lucy would be more perky, but she's always careful, check things out before doing anything.

from what i heard, they were born about 3-4 months ago. the owner of the dogs abandoned the mother and the pups. the mother and 3 puppies more or less roam around the neighborhood for awhile. the house right next to us love animals and they took the mother and puppies in. they gave away one of the puppies and lucy and barrett are the two that were left. my wife and kids saw them and decided that we can give them good a good home. my sons were determined to adapt dogs rather then buying them since they saw one of those tv ad about how the abandoned animials are abused. so it worked out good. they have good home, and i have two cute gals watching my figs. tho, i'm already training them not to go  into my fig room. lol

Well thats a great story Pete !
They wont be able to reach your figs in bigger pots but the small ones may be a different matter
as your aware pups love to play and get into mischief, they will pull on any tree tags also !

We came home one day from Dinner and had a laugh when we saw trail of toliet paper down a flight of stairs leading into the dining room floor and around a chair leg.

Puppies! Puppies!  Two cuties.  The terrible twosome  : )  At some point they will probably push you to the brink of giving them up, but don't.  Let them get at least a year old and they'll turn out just fine.  I got my dog in my avatar from the pound when she was 6 months old.  She nearly drove me crazy and I almost took her back but two people at work encouraged me to keep her until she got a little older.  Best advice I ever received, she is now the best dog I've ever had.

Welcome to my world. I was thinking today about how much extra money I'd have every month if I didn't have pets... good thing I love them so much.

I tried to take one of my girls for a walk at lunch today and it was raining. I had to practically pry her out of her kennel with a crow bar. Rain makes them melt. (Don't tell them we live in Seattle!)

We taught them the phrase 'get busy' to go potty. We engrained it in them so much that they'll practically pee on command. Comes in handy when it's freezing and miserable out.

yupe. i wanted some cuttings that jon has. but my fig fund ran dry. didn't expect two puppies suddenly. tomorrow, i'm taking them to their first vet visit. one of the puppies is rather "cautious". she's now much more sociable. wagging her tail and jumping on me. but still don't take to other things easily like her other sister. but what a cutie. her other sister is just all over the place jumping over things, dragging things around, but lucy will sit and wait for me to tell her to do something. every time i'm front of her, she will seat and wait for me to do something. it's amazing. my wife things she might have been abused and just scared of things. i'm not sure if that's the case or just her personality. oh.. she just started rolling over for me to scratch her. until day before, she won't roll over like her other sister, barrett, and let me scratch her chest. i guess she sort of trust me now.

Being cautious doesn't mean they were abused. Some are just naturally that way. I have two, same breed, same sex, very different personalities. One is fearless and crazy, the other is a lover but fearful. They've both lead great lives, they're just individual little critters with their own personalities.

took the girls to vet yesterday. the girls are supped to be only about 8 weeks old per vet.. my wife is very upset that someone let the puppies roam the neighborhood that young and abandoned them. well.. so we decided that their b-day will be 12/12/12. yeah.. 12 is a good number. multiple of 3.

it was so funny at the vet. all the staffs were so loving the girls. and when the vet was doing the exam the vet didn't think that barrett will be so hyper. barrett stuck her whole face into the baby food jar and get it all over her face. then while lucy was taking her turn barrett was complaining that she is not getting any more.

looking at the pix i posted, they have already grown a lot from that pix. and it's only been a week! per vet, they are very healthy with no issues.

Glad to hear they checked out healthy. Your vet adventures sound similar to mine. I have a treat pouch with me at all times. For Violet (my cautious one) I give her treats to keep the experience positive so she has no fears of the vet. She gets a treat after every poke and procedure. Sadie, on the other hand, is crazy and the treats are just to encourage her to keep all 4 feet on the ground! Otherwise she jumps up on everyone and everything in a frantic, desperate attempt to simultaneously kiss the vet AND steal the cookies from her pockets. And her kisses are intense. She will try to clear your sinuses if you aren't careful.

My facebook friends list is heavy with dog loving people, many of which are deep into the rescue scene. I wish I could say your cute pups' stories were rare... sometimes, people suck. I am glad everyone has landed in loving homes.
