Armando,

I've been out bid on quite a few also, but all by the same person, e***1. You probably didn't loose by just a dollar as the automatic bid was probably set much higher.

Gone are the days of trading cuttings, now they are fought over.

Armando,
Are you looking for anything particular or just having a rush to buy a fig?
Get a Zidi tree and a Santa Cruz Dark tree. They are going for a good price. Zidi needs a wasp but you have it.
What happened to the ones you got at the Fig Fiesta?
You had a number of some good figs.

Santa Cruz Dark I have, Don't have any fig wasp on me...????   The ones I got from the Fiesta are doing well....maybe one will produce a fig.....will try to place as many fig trees as possible into the ground to speed up the growing process.  Not in a Rush, just saw so many listings on Ebay.

Greenfig, I live between Fresno and Bakersfield...about 45 miles South East of Fresno in the City of Exeter (we have a lot of murals if you want to google E street and Pine)....its a city that reminds me of Main Street Disneyland, a little bit. Think, because of the fig industry in Madera and Fresno, the fig wasp is over there, not here.
Gorgi, bidding is OK, I normally look for local trees at Nurseries here. I also believe that sometimes the seller has extra cuttings and slips a few in appreciation. Maybe next year, or tomorrow I will feel different.

Armando,

Would it be practical to add a caprifig or two to your collection and try to get that wasp established in your neighborhood?  You could then add Smyrna types and your common figs might benefit from the pollination.  Bring in some wasps from wild trees in SCal.

I admit to not knowing enough about cultural practices in getting the fig wasp established, but it might be a fun project and could benefit your fig hobby if they can survive there.

Sounds Good Ed, will look into it, I think with insects there may be a balancing act...sometimes bringing something not native may effect, something negatively...I don't know..???    Also have to eat a Smyrna type with the fig wasp to get over eating wasp stuff...LOL

I think I hit my limit no more fig cuttings or plants needed.....I think I hit around 33 varieties and I need to slow down...LOL........On a side note I want to thank my fellow collectors throughout the Nation and International for the Love and Support.  I get very emotional with all the generosity you have bestowed upon me.

@Gorgi, giving some bucks to get a particular fig tree is still better than keeping the money and having no possibility of getting a decent fig tree - especially when, like me, you are in a special/cold climate.
In my region, I can see some figtrees of 30 - to 50 years old ... By that time, I wouldn't have even give it a try, as figtree where known to need more warmness .
As many others, while on holiday, I took a cutting on a big wild figtree ... and as them, I got plenty of leaves , some figlets and that was all - being inadapted, they never rippened - well ok, one fig did ripe by an unusually warm summer !
Those wild trees take a lot of place - whereas some cultivars need less space - or you can put more treesin the place you have.
For me what is fun in figs and will always be , is the variety of varieties that are there waiting for you ( and me - leave some for me :) ) and their amazing taste.
What is not fun with figtrees (and all trees in general) , is the time they take to set good production ! That drives man crazy ! Especially when in winter you get unusual frosts (the one from year 2012) , or an unusual cold spring like the one of year 2013 .
What is next for 2014 ... Locusts ? harghhhhhhhhhhhhh !
