Hi Everyone, I am new to Figs and my Friend introduced me to them. Hopefully, I can learn a lot from the pros here. I am a retired Fire-Fighter from Alabama, and really glad to join this group of people here.

I do have one question,  is there any difference between a Black Madeira, and  a Black Madeira Flat Big Black?? Or are they the same, some of the terminology does confuse me  : )

Thanks Everyone,

Frank

Welcome to the forum Frank, there is a lot of good info here along with some great folks. I am guessing that those are the same fig but I could be wrong. There seem to be a hundred names for a single fig depending on who you ask. Sorry this isn't much help but I am sure someone will chime in. They almost always do.

Black Madeira

A medium black fig with outstanding taste. To some people,
it is the best tasting fig in the Island of Madeira, Portugal.

Black Madeira Flat

A large black fig from the Island of Madeira, Portugal.

By these descriptions I would say there is some difference.

Welcome Frank and ditto what Mike said. I have both and if I manage not to kill them before hand I will be able to see if they are the same. At this stage I am noticing subtle differences in the leaves but they are juvenile so I can't be sure.

Welcome!  I've never heard of the flat one so you're ahead of me.  :)
