I've been trying to ID this fig and can't seem to put a name to it. It came from Calabria about 60 years ago. When ripe it is yellow with a light red center. It's about the size of Hardy Chicago and similar taste but I think a bit more sweeter. It resembles another fig given to me from a local member which he's not sure of a name for his either. The tree does well for me and will come back and produce fruit even if frozen to ground level. That's why I have a few planted in ground, no need for pots and the fig shuffle.

Hey Tony

Very nice looking fig you have there. Interesting that it can freeze to ground and come back so well to produce such nice looking figs. I like the long neck/ stem they have. Very photogenic, and their taste sounds nice as well. Unfortunately, I can't help with the ID, but I'm sure interested in knowing variety this is.

@ Mark - Yes that's one reason I'm keeping this tree. It can freeze to ground level and grow back to a nice size and produce for me.

@ Mike - It could be the same or very close. The ones on my tree have long stems which allow them to droop well when ripe. Also the figs have a nice seed crunch to them.

@ Nick - I don't think it can be White Genoa because the inside is a light red while Genoa is yellow/amber according to Jon's variety page
