Martin this one came from France and I also had a violette de sollies from France the only difference I found while growing both was violette de sollies had mostly 5 lobed leaves and my bourjassote noire has mostly 3 lobed and serrated leaves.

This is the violette de sollies leaf I had I died over winter good thing I had given my dad a little plant last year.

Looks great Nelson! I have a small plant in the greenhouse from a cutting I rooted last fall that has 2 green figs but not sure I will have time to see them ripen like yours. I'm definitely looking forward to this one though.

Wonderful pictures, Nelson. It finally turned to my favourite colour though I like them in all colours if they just get ripe here and I get it before raccoons.

Nelson, Nice pictures and a very good fig !
Tell me, these past two weeks before you pick that VS, were the figs in or out of shelter ?
I am surprised how you manage to get such nice figs on your latitude.

Akram hope you get to taste it.

John , yes tastes as good as it looks the flavor is outstanding.

James hard to explain the flavor one of the better figs I have sampled thus far.

Francisco all my plants are out in the open no real shelter from the cold or winds or rain but I did manage to ripen a few late cultivars and tasted extremely good.

I wish I had a greenhouse to get them to start earlier.

No.  It's like the confusion with all the Bordeaux figs.  In this case, it's not similar figs with names confused for one another like VdB and Negronne, but different figs with different names accepted as being like another when they are not actually the same fig.  Barnisotte is not the same as Bourjasotte Noire is not the same as Violette Soleis.  Unlike the Col de Dame figs, the figs with names related to Bourjasotte are not all even in the same family of figs, let alone necessarily identical enough to one another.

Especially desired figs: UCD 187-25, UCD 200-48, UCD 157-17, UCD 309-B1, Princesa, Black Madeira, high quality sugar fig that ripens Sept-Oct.

Probable desired fig: Smith, St Jean, JH Adriatic, CddB, Gulbun, Pastilliere, Sucrette

Rooting:  Smith, CDDB--this pretty much means I have my fun tries (tho' important since they are truly desirable), and only interested for this year: Gulbun, BM, 187-25, or something wildly exotic or precious that nobody has any good reason to send me.

My Violet Sollies is slowly loseing the 3 lobe leaf shape on plant .

Here is 1 of the 3 lobe leaves i just took now, to dark but it has the leaves of your post#4 and leaf right above
this post as well.

Fruit looks the same.

Think our plants are first cousins .  ; )
