Thanks for the comments.

Martin, down here the eye is medium to large on most of the Black Madeira figs from my tree.  When the tree gets more water the eye is filled with honey.  I have been a stickler with water lately so the eye is open and exposed on the Black Madeira figs these days.

Christian, the forum member Lampo is located on the Island of Madeira (Portugal).  According to him this variety is grown on Madeira, where it is known as Violeta.  Here's a link to a post he made about it: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/violeta-aka-figo-preto-aka-black-madeira-6456224

Tom, I've seen some of your videos.  It looks like you're getting really nice fruit from your Black Madeira.  It is a very nice tree.  You also have Barnissotte, don't you?  How do the two compare to you?  I like both a lot, but I think I like the Barnissotte figs a little bit better.
