Here are some figs that I picked tonight. Had to use the flashlight. I ate the really ripe ones this morning on the spot.

The first plate is Vasilika Sika at 12:00, Stella at 3:00, Lyndhurst White at 6:00, Troiano Calabrese at 9:00, and Salce in the center.

The second plate is an unknown that was the winner for the day. This variety is so productive, I've been eating this one all summer. It still has many more that will ripen in the next few days. Tastes just like a red raspberry. It has a very good breba also.

Bill, This was the first fig that I ever grew from a cutting. As far as where the fig is from, the people that own this tree are from Italy. They got their tree from a relative in Pittsburgh, Pa. They say it's from Italy. I couldn't tell you where in Italy.
The parent tree has figs from June until it gets cold out.

Pat, The Vasilika Sika was giant! It could have used another day or two.

I have young Stella ,  Mario's Troiano Calabrese and Mario's Salce so I really appreciate the size perspective . Vasilika Sika is huge , but was the taste?

edit :just saw it could have stayed another day or two!

The unknown has a great jammy looking center - glad you had so many and that it was a winner!!

Kubota,
Is the Troiano calabrese of yours from Mario in Kentucky? How did you think it taste

I have one from him and the pulp is amber. It is interesting how pulp can be different colors.

Womack,

Yes it is from Mario. I've read that it may be the same as Atreano. I haven't tasted Atreano yet. Won't be long.

Great looking figs Art!  All of them.  I agree with the others who posted above too:  that unknown looks (and sounds) really interesting.  (I guess that's the one you've called Mitticca White Unknown, true?).  It sounds really great.  If you ever find out more about its origins than what you've written in these couple of threads, please share it.

By the way, sending you an email.  I've got at least one (maybe two) from your wish list that I'll have a couple of cuttings from, to send your way.

I cannot attest to comparisons between Atreano and Troiano Calabrese, but I can say that my Troiano Calabrese fruited this year after one year's growth and it was very good. If, as people say, figs get better with age, this one is destined to take center stage in my yard.
