Yeppers, Florea has gone to Iceland.
 
A few weeks back I worked with 2 gents from Iceland. Over a few beers, ok many beers, figs came up and I learned there are not too many there and fresh figs were a rarity. 
 
I shared they can be grown successfully in pots and overwintered and greenhoused to extend the growing seasons on both ends so their interest also heightend. They guys did it all, coded in c#, hunted, married with great kids, grew up on farms so naturally they went home a few days later with 2 bare rooted 1 year old Florea.
 
I'll check in on them in a few months and see if I can get a few pixies. Stay tuned...

That was a very nice gesture on your part...I hope they keep in contact with updates...that would be very nice to see some pictures of your fig trees over in Iceland.

I prefer they produce prolifically for the pair and they post photos presently.

viking with figs.. hmm.. i'm having hard time picturing it. maybe with big t-bone steaks or pork chops.. maybe even watermelon.. but figs.. whatever floats their boats :)

Vikings . . . Whatever floats their boats - very funny. 

The Norse really spread their culture by their coastal invasions. Then they settled down and became traders and merchants. It seems fitting that they would want to try something different like figs.

But in keeping with the viking custom, what did you get in trade? I hope it was an animal skin of some kind, or a sword ;-)
