Will someone please tell me what type of a fig this guy has gathered? I really want to plant that type. I know I found this in one of the posts in the forum...

PICT3133.jpgSeattle green figs.jpg

here's a you tube clip , i think it's the same fig that Kevin is eating in the video clip, he answered me saying it was a Adriatic variety and it's his personal favorite. he gets them from his local farmer friend. I'm jealous!

Not sure what it is. Someone may know here.

Look at the man's face. It looks like he bit on a sour lemon. Are you sure you want something like that.

I want those figs, LOL... I've seen them in market in greek islands but never had them because they would always be too expensive. I admit the guy is not a super model but he's a guy, those figs...mmmm-m!

Those look like the "Great Big Green Fig" or GBGF for short
Please sent me 20 fresh cuttings from this tree to make sure my naming is correct
I can trade you several of the rare and hardy "Calliope's Red Greek Fig" from the Sparta region of Greece.

I believe it is too big for Desert King. Could be a Desert Emperor.

Looks to me like Ficus carica (Atreano) but may just be a bad guess.

i don't think it's Pingo del Mel. all the pix i've seen of PdM is different from above. it's more of GMO lime/fig cross.

Those figs are Desert King, Breba.
The fig tree is in the background and the leaves are ,totally representative of the Desert King cultivar.
In warmer climates the fruits are ,more yellowish but the fruits in this case ,are harvested a little earlier,or the climate do not permit ,a better coloration.

Original posting is from Mimi. She has huge trees and is waiting for me to come up and help her prune, so, regardless of the name, Aaron, I will make sure you will get a cutting.  I have a feeling it is a Desert King based on the description and knowing that very few varieties grow well here for us.

Mimi's mom is or was in a hospital not doing too well, maybe that is why she has not posted much lately.  I will find out what is going  on. I am also nursing a bad cold... maybe next week or so, whe weather improves, I will go help her.

oh no... I hope Mimi is OK. I sent her a PM a week ago just to see how she was, because I hadn't seen her post anything lately...never got an answer back.
Thanks Grasa, I really would like to get few cuttings of that wonderful specimen. This takes me 30 or so years back to my childhood... My uncle would take me to open market for fresh produce and these figs would be a rare treat to my eyes... they would be so expensive so I would not ask him to buy for me. Funny that I think about it now it sounds silly.

This red pulp fig was a similar fig picture that got me hooked on seeking other varieties... in looking back for my original posting, I found yet another giant tree in seattle, with a recipe for preserve... Now I have a quest to go find Sandra and her fig tree... could it be the same? it is in the same neighbourhood as Mimi's... so I better track this one now.
