P1010049-Optimized.JPG All my figs are dropping and the are very soft, with great color, but mushy inside.  No taste at all...??? It's been really hot in Texas so I've watered almost daily, maybe it was too muck?  This is a Brown Turkey.

I'm fairly new with figs compared to most of the people on this forum but this happened to me a couple of years back from overwatering. Since then I don't water as much as I have in my mind this old situation.

Some varieties don't handle overwatering too well. I'm thinking that what you have there is a Breba perhaps and they are usually of inferior quality to main crop on young plants in pots. I don't have this particular variety, but this can happen with plants that are going through an adjustment period or if they get stressed.
This is not indicative of what kind of fruit you will have. I've seen this before only to get totally different fruit the following season.

 Thanks for replies. I'm thinking maybe watering 2-3 times a week in hot weather and 1-2 spring and fall?  Ok, now I have no figs on my tree, when will main crop start?

Based on what I currently have, if you don't see any figlets at this time, it might be it for this year.

Seems like in the middle of the summer in Texas wouldn't you need to water every day?  There might be some other problem.  Maybe show a photo of the plant.

Hi sonnya,
Did you get hail ?
Seems like I can see a dark stain near the eye, and that would be damage from a hit (from hail for instance).
In that case, the fruit will likely abort and fall... after starting an odd process that looks like the ripening process.
A photo of the tree would help ... ? ( to know if potted, if small pot, if ... )

Well, this fig looks like an aborted fig ... aborted, for whatever the reason.

This is my trees and they look healthy, just turning out bad figs.  There are several small figs on the Kadota but the Brn Turkey is having a bad time and all but 3 figs gone.  There are 3 really nice ones, but Iam wondering if the same quality is happening?

That size tree in that size pot will need watering every day in summer. There's no way around that.

You can get better figs with a mature in ground tree. The large root system on the in ground tree allows a much longer watering interval. That increases fruit quality.

I have grown good figs in pots but it's mostly the smaller figs that shrivel as they ripen. The big figs like BT or Black Jack tend to be watery and bland when grown in pots.

Steven is right. That tree needs to be in the ground. It's way too big for that pot
and is undergoing both heat and water stress. My BT's are in the ground and are
experiencing the same heat and water stress, but I'm getting some of the best
brebas I've ever gotten. They're outstanding.
