and trees are not liking it. my 3 oldest trees received major root and top prunning. i took about 1/3 off. they are slow in getting leaves and branches out. new leaves are showing sign of stress.

i sort of expected this, but it's concerning to see it.

also, some of the trees are not enjoying below 40 temp during the shuffle. leaves seem to be getting damaged. younger trees are handling it much better.

Peter...I do the same thing to all my trees, but I do it at the end of the season, before I put them inside for winter storage...I find that this gives them all winter to get over the trauma, and in spring time they just start to shoot out buds and leaves for the new season.

My Texas BA-1 was a vigorous grower last year sending up straight limbs to over ten feet tall. I cut them all back to about three feet and they are now sending out side shoots and some leaves are starting to unfurl.

Really hard for me to understand, you know.  No fig shuffle here.  But we did move.  And I was forced to root prune and top chop my mother VDB.  Her daughter came here easy.  But MAMA was a biggie.  To fit her in the car, we had to chop her hard.  Top and roots.  Hard.

She settled into her new Rocky top place, and there are 4 breba... Amazing!  And shoots coming from places you could not imagine!  She is the mama, and she's strutting her stuff!

I can't post a picture, but we absolutely demolished her roots and her crown, and she is back big time!  Hard to kill a fig tree!

She will rule rocky top!
