They were so tiny I could not get a pic.  Seems like over night my Brown Turkey went from green to this...

I had already pulled a few of the really bad looking leaves off, thinking perhaps my raising it up had somehow damaged.  Upon very close inspection I noticed hundreds of very tiny larvae of some sort, navigating on webs and crawling, undoubtedly chewing also.  A mass of eggs was discovered under a leaf and promptly rubbed out.

Gave the entire plant a permethrin spray yesterday evening and there are no larvae I can see this morning.  No clue if these came on the tree or some moth hit it as soon as I planted it.

Was it recently repotted? It will probably bounce back after the spray. The damaged leaves will likely fall on their own. Are those airlayers new? The plant might be weakened right now. Best of luck

Yes it was recently repotted.  Just got it about a week ago and it was buried too deep for my water logged yard so I raised it up a few days ago and amended the mixture with more perlite than was in it at first and some pine bark. I put the air layers on when it was first set out.

Its probably suffering from transplant shock as well. Try to keep her on the drier side. I had a similar issue recently and kept watering and fertilizing. The leaves just kept rusting more and more with no new growth. I just left it alone for a few weeks and all the sudden new shoots started popping up.

Spider mites. Not their eggs though, they do not lay in masses and they are quite small.

Good luck Charlie, you may have done too much too soon, new plant, air layers, transplant etc.... Definitely need to get your water problem under control, or try alternatives, check your other thread for suggestions. We are really wishing you success.

I agree, this poor tree has been through some for sure.  Looks like all the leaves are going to fall off.  Should have raised it up quicker or rather never have planted it in the hole to begin with.  

Probably should not have even gotten any trees till I learned more but I couldn't help it with all the great descriptions on flavors and photo's ya'll post!  It is what it is now and just have to learn from mistakes, move on and adapt.

But I can't stop experimenting.  It's just in my nature and might drive some crazy but again, it's an addiction worse than just figs and I can't stop haha!  

Don't worry, will try to grow some normally to make sure we actually get some figs someday...

Charlie, you are doing okay, I believe everyone of us have been in your shoes. I know I have lost a lot trying to get the darn things to root before growing leaves. You are right, by experimenting I have raised my success rate from 5% to about 85-90% and the ones I lose are usually of the same variety. You will get there. Anyways, I do not think you have visited your old post "fig doodle" lately, I left a message for you. Check it out. You will be helping us before you know it.
