This is a a dark fig that I picked up last year. I'm not sure of the origin  probably Italian. The figs are all ripening small. The person I got it from and has had figs form it says they are small figs, but these seem pretty small. I have been seeing a lot of figs on other trees ripening smaller this year, so I think they should be a little larger.  I feel like there is some resembelence to Mt. etna type figs. Any ideas let me know.

That's a tough one. It does look like it could fall into that Mt. Etna type. I think the slightly hollow center could be the clue that might help ID it. For now it's another LDF.

It may not have a recognized name.
It looks similar to some common figs in many backyards around here.
Correct me if I am wrong but it is probably a good producer, tastes good and is cold hardy so an easy keeper?

It was growing unattended at an empty house, so I think it's been cold hardy. I don't know how it made out last winter since it seems like everything does to the ground no matter what. The taste berry and they have been ok. Maybe I need to leave them on longer. I have had squirrels eating my figs so I have been picking as soon as they look ok just to get them before the squirrel.
