This came to me as Noire de Caromb. My first figs. Can anyone growing it chime in? I'll post a pic of the inside if it survives the critters.

Nice looking fig.
Where are you located and do you know where the fig came from?

I hear a lot of good things about this variety and am leaning on adding it, have to do a little more studying.

It is supposed to be very similar to Kathleen's Black.  The leaves and fruit do look very close. If memory serves I think Herman2 said it might be identical but has more fmv than KB so it behaves a bit differently.  Do you think your fruit will get ripe?  Did it take several years for it to fruit as seems to generally be the case for KB?

I was going to mention that the leaves on your NdC look very healthy.  Looking forward to seeing/hearing about the fruit.

The cuttings came from far, far away. I’m in North Jersey USA

The leaves and fruit do look very close to NdC? I think it will ripen. The first pic looked like the 2nd pic yesterday, just started to swell. This is its second year, put on figs last year but did not ripen in time.

I didn’t check every leaf but it shows little if any FMV this year. I don’t remember how it looked last year.

That's funny.  I have a fig that looks very similar mine gets really dark purple and shiny and is bigger and sweeter than the mt. Aetna types.  The leaves have red stem I don't see a red stem on the NCD leaves.
I also got mine from really far away.

1st and 2nd photos are my similar fig the 3rd photo is NCD.  Haven't got fruit from my NCD yet so I can't compare them fully.

Some of my leaves have a red stem. When I take a picture of leaves I try to get as many variations as possible.  My leaves look just like yours. I have a couple ripening up if the critters don't get them

They sure look the same.  This year I got NdC and am growing it side by side.  The NCD does have similar leaf shape and is very vigorous.  1yr cutting is already 5'.

KK, I think it is NdC.  And no disrespect to Steve or VS, but I don't think NdC and Kathleen Black are the same fig.  I have them both.  My NdC is an original.  Came from a private collector.  I have several KBs.  KB is stubborn and sometimes does not want to fruit.  I have to consantly pinch and feed mine every year.  Give it another year, feed it well and hope for a hot long season.

I just took a look at the plant. Only the very top leaves, the ones that get the most sun have red stems. Hope the critters don't take these tonight :(

My first year KB grew tall but didn't put out any figs at all.

Very similar but the neck looks different.  Yours does look like NcD.

Here is a link to a post last year on my similar fig.

I couldn't resist picking the first one even though it wasn't fully ripe.

It's good to know that NdC will ripen in North Jersey . It's on my list of figs to have.

Hey Keith, love the cracking of the skin and the flesh looks wonderful. Even better and most important, is the taste. Congrats.

Thanks Joe. The leaves are different though than on my plant grown from the cuttings I got from you a few years ago.  EDIT.... I think I might be confused on the variety we pm's about......

Luke that looks like a nice fig.  I had never seen a NCD breba before.
I have an NCD 1yr plant growing well so maybe next year I will see some figs.

These were pretty good but I bet they would have been much better if it was August
