Building my collection of cold-hardy fig varieties, LaRadek seems like a must-have. I haven't been able to locate a source of this material, can anyone help me out and share/trade/sell me some cuttings of this one?

If you're from EU I can send you some, but you're probably from the USA or Canada, right?

Moonvil! I'm also interested in the same question like Gelu, what varieties do you grow here in the cold Europe?

Thank you Rofig, besides the "Laradek" from the "hardy ones" I have Hardy Chicago, Bornholm, White Marseilles, Brown Turkey, Natalina, RdB, Becane and a bunch of "nonames" - mostly local varieties grown in our region for many years.

Thanks for the responses... I think I've got this one coming, much appreciation back to you all. I'd like to hear more from our eastern European friends about their local 'nonames'. Ali Pasha sounds like a very good fig, those are beautiful, large trees in the video. I really like how the forum brings in folks with the global perspective- great you can share your experiences with us(in english, too!). I would like to make a trip your way someday to fruit explore! So many interesting things you have access to in the crossroads of Eurasia which I have interest in, like cornus mas, actinidia kolomikta, schisandra, sea buckthorn, and of course, figs.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Jesse. You are welcome to visit Eastern Europe and Romania as Romania is a very beautiful country, with nice people too. I am living outside the zone where fig trees are growing native, in zone 6, so only cold hardy cultivars could grow and fruit here. I have found many good fig growing friends on forum and we should keep in mind that fig trees are not native growing in USA, they were mainly imported from mediteranean countries or brought by immigrants as cuttings or even seeds as part of their cultural heritage.

Yes as Gelu say, here in europe we have a lot of traditional varieties, whiches are usually inheritaging by Generation to Genaration, and that is the reason why the fig has reached USA to. The passion for figs inclined the immigrants to brought some fig with themselves. Moonvil! Is your natalina is the same as Grimo's? and another question about Bécan, is it ripenning in the same time as Ronde de bordeaux, cause I heard this thing.

Yes, the Natalina was acquired directly from the Grimo Nut Nursery. My RdB didn't fruit yet, it is still a very small plant so I can't compare it to the Becane.

To my knowledge only a couple people have this one...I think a rooted cutting sold for a couple hundred in early summer. I know Harvey has it, maybe he can assist or let you know when they will be available?

Kelby- Thanks, I think I've got this on the way thanks to a generous forum member. With any luck, I'll be able to play it forward in a couple years:)

Nice, good score! FYI, in your wishlist you have Nordland, LdA, and Niagara Black. Herman2 thinks they all the same, might save you a little space!

One Laradek was sold for $100. The only other extra I had was given to another generous member here. My one tree has grown well but is still in a pot. It had some fruits on it late in the season but too late to ripen. Another member, Rob, started a thread about Laradek previously and I believe he's going to have some for sale (for those interested).
