I just picked an assortment for family coming to dinner. Ischia Black, Black Madeira, Adriatic JH, Lampeira, Janice Seedless Kadota, Noire de Caromb, Bourjassotte Gris, VdB, and Grise de St. Jean. My mom, who is Portuguese, has been here for a few days. Her faves so far are Genovese Nero, Lampeira, and Adriatic JH.

I'm glad you are having nice weather Gary! Looks like a delicious plate of figs for you to share! Here we have had a week of wind, rain and cold.. brrr. Happily they are forecasting a week of sunny warm weather for Monday. Hopefully my in ground figs with many figs swelling now will ripen.

Looks good, Gary!
Is that NdC came from LA by any chance?
How did it taste?

A lot of people put emphasis on popular/exotic cultivars, which is great because it highlights some of the better fig varieties; however, I am most interested in the figs our members love regardless of pedigree. Currently Growing: a bunch of varieties.

Gary, this is a very nice bowl of figs. The Lampeira you mention on your post is it the black or the white one ? Is it on that bowl of figs? My question is because.. either one could be there , looking at those colors and shapes. Nice to hear you are somehow a distant 'cousin'! My sincere respects. Francisco Portugal

Thanks Frank. Even my nephew's 2 year old loves figs. Francisco, the Lampeira Branca is the largest in the bowl, a wonderful fig that I think more people should grow. From the Prusch orchard in San Jose. My mom's father was born in Madeira, her mother in Portugal. They came to the U.S. just about 100 years ago. So, we may be distant cousins, which I would be proud to be! To all of my friends in the East, I wish I could send you some of our warm, dry weather, and you could send us some rain. Yes Igor, the NdC came from SoCal. Thank you.
