sorry i have been MIA for so long. didn't mean to ignore everyone. i had complete melt down last yr around oct. been diagnosed with anxiety disorder and OD on some med and was in coma for 4 days. since then, i haven't even looked at the figs.. and as you might have guessed, they are all dead.

i know i owe figs to few members, but i'm very embarrassed to say i do not have any live fig trees at this time. i did get USDA/UCD cuttings, but didn't even looked at them till today, and they are molded.

i also found fig boring beetles on my old trees. 5-6 yr old trees in 15 gal didn't make it either. fortunately blueberries survived, but since i neglected them along with figs, they are not much to look at.

i know i owe people, so please let me know if i can make it up some how.

i won't be coming back as often as i used to, but if you email me, i'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. still on short term disability from work and i rather iffy now days. some days are better than the others.

Can I send you a young tree or so? If you are up to caring for them, I'm sure we can get you started with a few, if you are interested. That is, if caring for a few trees is therapy for you instead of a burden.
Glad you are doing better, Pete!

Pete, great to hear from you and, as others have said, I hope you continue to get better.  I hope you are able to take it easy and relax.  You don't owe me anything but, even if you did, that would be the last thing on my mind.  Peace!

Pete, I don't know you as well as some of the other  members here but, just know you should not worry about who you owe Figs to. Worry about getting well and coming back on the Forum and teaching us with your expertise. I promise one thing, when you get back to fooling with Figs again, I will help you build up your collection. For now, please just take care of yourself...... : )

That's a tough diagnosis, and one of the things that make it especially tough is that feeling of guilt. That you should be able to just rise above it, and that you're letting everybody down by not doing so.

The good thing about it is that it'll show you who your friends are. You don't need the people who aren't supportive in your life anyway, let them go.

As far as owing anyone on this forum, if it is important that someone get the cuttings you promised, tell us what you need to make it right, and let the rest of us contribute if we can. Your plants are dead, you can't come up with cuttings, we can, let us know what you need and let us help.

Yes, clean up all the dead wood and try starting up again next Spring.  With a small number of figs (at least at the beginning) you can watch them closely for insects and take appropriate steps if you see somthing.

Pete hi, been wondering where were you. Taking time of the forum and even figs can be good.
Can you show pics of damage sites of the boring beetle?
Have you noticed they were attracted to trees in particular soils or maybe they
Hurt fmv infected trees more than other?

Pete, so sorry to hear of your illness - I too have been away a bit, sometimes things just get complicated and overwhelming to the point you just can't do a thing.

My in ground LSU Purple is monstrous and healthy!  When you are ready to start, count me in!

My prayers are with you.
