I have found this to be somewhat difficult for me to root but got my tree started in March 2013. It's been a pretty good grower but not particularly productive yet. In 2014 I had one fig on my tree and that was stolen by a bird (100% gone!) a day or two before it was fully ripe. This year I have picked three figs so far and they have been outstanding fruits. My tree still isn't what I would call a productive tree (have three more that are almost ripe) but I have high hopes for that as the tree continues to age. The fruits are sweet and very rich flavored. Sorry, I can't figure out taste descriptors for most figs so that's what I have to say. I'm also not going to say it's my top favorite...I have several "favorites" and this is one of them. Other than Bass, has anyone else picked ripe fruit from this variety yet? It's been highly sought-after but I just haven't seen any other photos. Here are ones I picked on Wednesday:

I have two big potted galicia negra trees but, no figs yet.Thank you for the photos.

Harvey, Congratulations! Been anxious for this topic, after so much ink spent on all sorts of news reports, exchanges,.. following that eBay ad some two or even three years ago But no picture of a ripe one, showing its true colors .. Now here it is! It is a very nice fig and after reading your lines I believe it will be delicious and very sweet. I am also convinced that the 'particularities' of the Delta environment also contributed for such a nice fruit. Francisco Portugal

Harvey, man I love your photos! Great job! Have your Longue d'Aout fruited yet? If so, how does the richness of your GN compare to it? LdA is my richness fig this year! My second is my Unknown Black fig from Spain and Noire de Caromb.

Francisco, thanks for the compliments. Coming from someone with such great figs and beautiful photos, it's an honor. We've had some strange weather for part of the year but have had some nice warm weather for a while (until some sprinkles last night). Heh, Dennis, thanks. Yes, I picked maybe 70 varieties this week, including LdA. The LdA was good to very good, not nearly as rich as the Galicia Negra.

I'd never guess you had troubles rooting from the looks of that fruit! That looks incredible! Please let me know if/when you ever have cuttings to trade!

Glad you enjoyed it, I've had a few figs on mine last year, but didn't notice any this year. It is one of my special figs, it has a complex and rich flavor. I wonder how a caprified Galicia Negra would look and taste like, but even without caprification it looks and tastes great.
