This is main crop of fig in Sicily. The owner of this tree told me

this fig is Melanzana "Zaffiro". Big main crop and big leaves.

Beautiful coloured figs! 

So in this case what does the Melanzana family type of fig refer to?  Are there certain characteristics that Melanzana figs have?

Melanzana in Italian means Purple Eggplant

I think this fig look like Melanzana.

He give me this name Fico Melenzana
