I am wondering if any forum members might have St Gabriel cuttings that they would be willing to sell at a reasonable price & be willing to send to HI?  I bought some last year from an e-bayer but they arrived horribly dried out.  Not sure if they were old cuttings to start or if they dried out in route.  My cutting hit rate is still not great so I am hesitant to spend a lot for the cuttings.  LSU clones sounds like a good choice for my area (humid & rainy) so I am looking to some of them as my best shot here.

John, I got mine from ebay seller hickoryhouse2012. He is a member on this forum, figpig66. His name is Richie, you can try him.
OttawanZ5, it is LSU St. Gabriel, a somewhat obscure variety.

No, sorry I was just saying that it has been mentioned on this forum by dan_la in a post with that title in 2011. @ottawanz5: Is what I should have put 1st.

Ottawan, these are some of the less known LSU Figs

Buddy Lee
DC series aka Dead Cat series

St Gabriel have been talked about and quite a few collecters of LSU variants have it. My opinion on this variant is -- it is
less superior than many other LSU variants like LSU Red, LSU Scott Yellow, Scott Black, LSU Improved Celeste, LSU O'rouke.

I obtain a cutting directly from LSU St. Gabriel Experimental Station........I'm presently testing this variety, this year my tree did produce a few friut, its a large black fig with an overall rich, complex taste,I would rate it a 9.I visited the experimental station this year and to my surprise, the variety was gone.I will provide more info on this varity next summer. st gab black.jpg
