Beautiful figs. I never heard of LSU Red before. Dennis rated Smith at the very top of his rating scale. Navid, do you know where to get the LSU red cuttings or plant?

I'm interested in a source of this fig too. Any LSU variety must do well here in hot, humid, rainy Houston.

I haven't heard of this variant either. Was it hard to obtain this variety? If not do you know were I could potentially find it?
Thank you for sharing. I would love to hear more about it.

Hey Navid ,
Is this tree very late in ripening it's fruit , or is it a young plant that just ripened for the first time ?
Thanks .... John

Paul, my plant is almost 3 yrs old. John, No, it's not a late cultivator. It's a mid-season fig, its main crop begins to ripen by mid-late Aug. It was late this year due to my mistake of up-potting it in late June. Even with keeping it in a semi-shaded area for over a week, it dropped all of its fruits. This plant began to set a new crop of fruit, again, during the last week of Aug. I was able to get them ripe by mid-Oct. Navid.

Thanks for the pictures.
Wow that looks like a really good variety.
I'm going to guess that those long stems on the fruit and the way it droops downward helps to keep water from getting inside.

Its ability not to split with heavy rain sounds great for our weather. One day hopefully I'll get my hands in it

I just rooted my cutting. It was a little stubborn to root and popped out leaves too early, but she is surviving. I'm exited about this one. THANKS NAVID!

Contact the OP, Navid and see what he is willing to do. At least you will know for sure that the cutting you get is a true-type to the one in the thread. It sure beats getting scammed because you were trying to save a couple dollars.
