Large fig and beautiful foliage like you said. Is very humid? Maybe thats an issue with the rot. Great video. Humidity is low where I live. I'm in the desert. Some figs just seem prone to developing mold inside. I'm glad you posted this Joe. This year my potted Havasu has some brebas on it, I have been debating on removing them because it is a late fig for me so far, I don't remember Dave or anyone else mentioning brebas on it. After being in the garage for a week because of bad weather I noticed most of the brebas on this one are dropping on their own. I still haven't tasted a proper main crop fig from it due to critters and lateness but like you said, it does seem to ripen earlier each year; so I'm hopeful for this year. I really do like the tree though and I agree it is very attractive with the big Jurassic Park leaves that stand out from the rest. Thanks for posting, good video, your yard is looking pretty cool and I think some shade is gonna be nice. :) __________________ Calvin Littleton,CO z5/6 Wants List: For everyone to clean-up after themselves and co-exist peacefully. I'll do another video of the Black Madeira when the main crop starts to ripen. Besides the Black Madeira I have 3 other varieties that have been my favorite so far. My overall best performer year in and year out since I planted fig trees at this house in 2011 is an unknown tree I've been calling Joe's Jersey. It's similar to Hardy Chicago but performs better for me. This tree is originally from the house I lived in as a kid in New Jersey in the 1980's. I have multiple specimens growing in my yard in AZ now. It is very healthy and productive. I love the taste of the fruit. It ripens a fruit at almost every leaf on the tree. Desert King is also one of my favorite trees. I look forward to the breba crop to start off the fig season every year. I also have a fig tree that originally came from a cutting from the old Spanish mission at Santa Barbara. I don't know exactly what variety it is but it is a green fig that has awesome flavor. Love your figs Joe, they are an inspiration to me and I am following your lead and growing my figs (heck, all my trees) in bush form. Bought a Desert King this year (DWN tree) and it up and died on me! I'll have to try one again someday though since it is in your top 3. Green the desert! __________________ Phoenix AZ Zone 9B

Another great presentation, Joe. Really fun to see Havasu spotlighted in your video. Funny thing about the rot. I find it very rarely. Also really cool that you have ripe fruit already. Hi Dave! Funny thing is I've eaten several more brebas off the Havasu tree since the video and they havent had any rot. Probably had something to do with weather conditions at the time of the video.
