Having so many baby fig plants to play with from my unknown cuttings, I'd like to share one way I containerized a few of the plants.  I'm calling it the Quick SIP.   It's my low cost, low work version of a Sub Irrigated Planter.  I made it when I discovered the pot that I got from Dollar Tree fit perfectly into one of the free 2-gallon white buckets I had collected.
What I did was used the hole saw to drill a hole in the bottom that a net pot slipped right into.  I packed the net pot with soil.  I drilled small holes around the lower inch or so of the bottom of the Dollar Tree pot (I'd go up a little higher next time).  Drilled a few holes along the bottom of the white bucket a little above the level that the bottom of the net pot reaches.  The holes serve as an overflow so the water level stays just at the bottom of the net pot.  Plant your plant and it's  ready to grow.
I also discovered that your basic I think it's the 8-inch nursery pot will fit the white bucket the same way.
This cutting was planted into the container on 4-16-15 from cuttings started maybe in early January of this year.

I had to crop the picture so it would be the right size to post.  There's new growth on the tips, which is promising because the plant had stalled.  That's why it became the subject of this experiment.

He's a shot of the roots:

For the other planters I skipped the fill tube.  I've been watering from the top and lately there's been a lot of rain.

I think this pot is the equivalent of a gallon or so, so I don't expect the plant to live there forever, but I'm sure it will make it through this season.

Happy to be a member here.
