This fig is one I have researched and found no one else displaying so I thought I'd share mine.
This is thought to be a white San Pedro type fig.
It has no neck at all, sweet but not overly flavorful. Carmel
coloring inside, no seed crunch.
I'm sure it will improve with age.

Well, here she is....

Thanks Dave, it's just a fig.
I feel lucky there are people like George who shared cuttings with others.
Because of that, I was able to grow it.

It came from Jon on ebay sold as GM8.
I have emailed George and was told it would produce a breba crop only.
If I get a main crop, there will be question to it's origin.
Also, the interior was caramel brown color, not amber like Excel.

Well, the second main crop swelled then shriveled up and fell off.
I am leaning towards san pedro type fig George thought it would be.
It's a earlier producer by over a month over my other figs.
I'm going to airlayer each sucker I let grow, plant 4 or 5 in my orchard
and those promised a cutting or airlayer can show off theirs next year.

Thank you Gorgi for your generosity sharing there varieties from Malta.

Doug

edit

I will sell a few on ebay too.
If someone from cali gets it, it will be interesting to hear about the main crop.
Problem is, I won't ship to california.

What part of South Carolina are you from? I am in Spartanburg and like to compare notes to locals.Looks like a good fig to have in the line up especially if you are working towards a self sustaining life style, got to extend the fig harvest!

I started in Rock hill, married the old medicine mans daughter of the Catawba Indian nation
then bought a house outside Chester.
Love it here.

I don't take notes either I keep it all in my head.It was a fig-ure of speech. I have some good figs in my collection 180+ varieties would love to trade something for gm 8 cuttings this fall. I have some rooted Zumwalt trees look it up.

Thanks but no thanks.
My tree is small. The cuttings are already spoken for.
Hacking it up this fall will be bad enough
just paying old friends back a thank you.
Have fun

Looks just like the GM-8 I picked yesterday. Very sweet, mild flavor - maybe caramel - maybe almost a cream soda flavor. In the top 5 or 6 of the three dozen I tasted yesterday.

Do you get a main crop Jon?
What is it like?
It was my first fig of the season.
Is it considered early there?
