Deanna remains the largest and one of the most delicious honey type figs in my collection of over 50 varieties(never really counted them). Having moved it to a 25 gallon pot early this year, was'nt sure of what I would get.
Today I tasted my first of the season. It had this deep yellow color and a wonderful honey flavor that I can safely say, it would be hard to beat. The size is a major advantage too. One Deanna = Four Celestes. Had to cut it into four pieces and really enjoyed this snack.
When compared with many other varieties, is productive also. It produces every season without interruptions. I cannot say anything about this variety except that it is outstanding and glad to have it. I give this one a Ten.
If I was to keep one yellow honey type fig once I start culling, it would have to be Deanna.
I would like to add that in a previous year this tree got stressed due to being root bound or lack of watering on schedule. This Resulted in figs that were relatively dry and had no flavor. Even the color on the inside was different.
For those who get discouraged whenever you get poor results in pots, you cannot always blame it on the fig.
After tasting this one today my wife goes "wow!", "this is what you want in a fig ", "this is the real thing"...

It sounds like a great fig, Sas! I bought "Deanna 2" cuttings from a member here and they are growing well. How does iDeanna 2 compare to your Deanna, do you know?

Hi Meg,

Mine came from a nursery in your neighborhood. It was in a three gallon container if I recall correctly and fruited the same year.
As to Deanna 2, I have no ID what that means. I don't know if Ira Condit had two of them. It could've been that someone had two packages of Deanna and yours was number 2.
Perhaps your source could shed some light on this.

Hmmmm, wow, my neighborhood? Which nursery would that be? I need to go back to look at my records on my purchase but I do know it was an F4F member. Now I am really looking forward to mine fruiting!! Thanks for sharing yours. It sounds line a winner.

Looks like a great honey fig variety! Is the Deanna considered a late season variety/ does it take longer to ripen?

In TX where we have lots of heat, it just started to ripen, I would consider it early to mid, definitely not a late variety. In your zone, if I had to guess, it will probably take longer.

Yes, beautiful tree and fruit you have. I rooted a cutting of Deanna I got from Richard Watts and it went to a large nursery pot this year. I sure hope it turns like yours.

Well, after reading and seeing this, I'm sold.  Found one on Ebay and bought it.   Although the seller is only around 2 hours away, I'll opt for it to be shipped.  I'll be looking forward to the day when I can get a super sized fig like that.

Beautiful fig! As if I needed another reason to want this fig, Deanna was the name of my all time favorite German Shorthair! She was such a sweetheart that I have been meaning to procure this fig in her honor; the fact that it is such a good fig seals the deal! Now as to sourcing...

The eye is closed but opened up on a fig of this size and after four days of rain. This is a large fruit producing variety, but not all fruit are super sized. On average the size is four times the size of a Celeste.
It was a decent size tree when I got it a couple of years ago from
https://rollingrivernursery.com/component/virtuemart/fruit-trees/figs-ficus-carica and has been producing without any interruption which I cannot say about many of my other varieties.

Looks very nice and impressive size!
Easy to pick and fill up a basket fast!

Don't know if I could eat a fig that size..lol 
My Dalmatie is also huge and super sweet so I can only eat a fig when there is someone around that will eat the other 1/2.
I prefer regular size figs not too big not too small that way I can eat a dozen at a time:)

Dalmatie is another excellent fig that I need to source, the assumption being that the name reflects an origin in or around the Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic.... My cousin has a HUGE dark fig that grows in her garden in Croatia that I am trying to get pictures of in the hopes that the members here can help to identify the varietal; as I recall, although fist size in reality, I had no problem eating 5 or 6 at a sitting last time I was there and the figs were ripe...

Thank you Sas for the nursery info, I was hoping to find it closer to me here in Texas. I will look a little longer since it's to hot to ship here right now, and if I can't find it locally I'll order it from Rolling River nursery. my space is limited so this is a great size tree to add to my collection.
P.S. If I get lucky I can sneak it in with the others and my wife won't notice:)
