I just wanted to say Hello! I'm kinda new to the forum and this is my first post. I thought I'd share my latest figs to ripen. They are: (from left to right)

?breba? Lebanese Red, LSU Purple & Black Mission.

All my figs are with me for a year or less so still figuring out what are Breba and what are main. The next figs from Lebanese red were much darker and much more flavorful.

Thanks to all for the wealth of information. And for not feeling bad about having a fig addiction.

Welcome!  I have Newfoundlands.  You're off to a great start.

Breba grow on last year's wood.  The main crop grows on wood that didn't exist last year - this year's new growth.  It's that simple.  :)

It's always best to have a sig with your zone and region so people can put what you say in context and give you good advice if you need it.  :)

Your figs look awesome. To me you do not have lsu purple unless the wasp changes the, color of pulp which is Carmel colored. But actually looks better the lsu purple ;-)

I bought 2 from a big online nursery for figs. The plants are the same as each other. They don't get very purple inside or out. We are coming of several weeks of 90+ degree weather. I don't know if that could affect/change anything. I'm hoping at least the plants I've gotten from nurseries are true to name. I know part of the fun of the next few years is seeing what figs are the same as what I purchased. Comes with the territory I guess?

Not a mistake at all.  No one's born knowing this stuff.  Some explanations get very complicated.  Simple ones are better  :)

Often plants bought at a nursery are not true to name.  I hope you at least got something good  :)

Cutting season starts in Oct - Dec and you'll have lots of opportunities to get good figs.  You could also go to  http://www.figcuttings.com
