wow i saw a post of cutting all the leaves off and pinching buds so i experimented on a tree that was growing well but not producing,so i pinched all the buds and cut all leaves off leaving 1-1/2 " of leaf stem on,and one full leaf at the end of each limb or branch. well i am posting to let you know that all that milk sap that dripped all over my arms and hands really did me in,today my hands are swelled up from it too. it is similar  to first degree burns, ouch next time i will were arm and hand protection ,and i am glad i didn't get any on my face or any where else ~just a warning be careful and i am a tough guy too~just not now~

Sorry you had a problem with it.   That's some powerful stuff.   It looks like you're sensitive to it, or maybe it was the amount of the sap at once that caused such a bad reaction.
I read that the sap can be used to remove warts.  Just a few minutes ago I ran across an article ( http://www.pyroenergen.com/articles11/fig-tree-fruit.htm) that said that consuming figs can dissolve uric acid which would help with arthritis, in addition to some more health benefits of the actual fruit.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi,
Always be careful in the garden.
Even lettuce has milky sap, and you don't want that to stay on your skin ... Don't even speak of getting that in the eyes ! (*)
What I usually do is I cut first the bottom stems and then upwards.
If I see too much sap falling and trying to reach me, I stop, I let it rest and continue the next day. Just take your time ...
(*) did you try do fetch your hot peppers and just because a mosquito met your eye, you rub your finger against  the eye ... Such a stupid move... One does not make it twice I guess.
Just by contact, your hand gets the burning molecule from the hot pepper ... and hot pepper in the eye is a damn bad idea ...
In the same way, the funniest was, once I went to the toilets after fetching some ...  It took me sometime to figure why afterwards I felt like something burning the backdoor ... Never again ...
