Much to my surprise it seems to be working. I see roots and leaves. |

I had this work for me as well. I potted right after I saw roots and it wilted a little for 2 days, then was fine. Just shade, no humidity dome, but humidity here is very high anyway. |

Hi: My name is Tony and live in Staten Island, NY. I have 8 Fig Trees - Italian Whites, Black Mission, Peter Honeys and Brown Turkey. I have made cuttings from these fig trees and placed them in water (vase) on 09/15/11. They are sitting on my kitchen table near a window with sunlight. I will keep you informed of my progress or short comings!!!!! |

Good for you JA, how long has it been in the bottle. It looks like it shouldn't be long to transplant time. |

Just a word of caution. When taking the scion out to pot it, you want to cut the bottle in half with a utility knife. Otherwise you'll end up braking the new leaves/branches trying to take it out from the opening of that bottle. |

Gene, It was in the zip lock bag and jar about 8 days before it dropped the leaf petiole. After they dropped I put them into the bottle and it is a total of 27 days old. The other cutting, from same tree is behind this one but is rooting, it was a little greener wood. |

Is it too late in the season for me to try this, if I keep the bottle inside the house? Can I keep the plant growing indoors, in an old fish tank, throughout the winter? |

Thanks Barry. I took one cutting yesterday, and three more today. One of the VdB cuttings was at the very base of the tree, and when I cut it there were two roots already there. I have it in a bottle of water now, but I think I may plant it in soil tomorrow. The cuttings are of Blk Triana and VdB. The Marsielles are a bit shorter than I first thought, so I think I'll leave them till spring. |
