Tony I did a few of those last year the exact same way you did it except I didn't cut the bark ring, I wrapped tin foil around it and didn't check them for a few weeks when I did the roots were growing everywhere , in the bag and above and below the bag where the tin foil was wrapped around the limb |

I plan on wrapping it with foil for the heat and i guess i couldve left the bark on, its basically the same as bending it down to the ground method you dont cut the bark with that method but i figured better safe then sorry dont wanna wait the 4 weeks to find nothing i promised it to someone and wanna get it in the mail asap |

Tony, A nice step-by-step how-to air layering a fig pictures!
When I girdle, I only cut along the bark approx '1x' the diameter of the twig.
Air-layering is most sure/quickest way to propagate a few figs. It takes spring/early-summer starts ~4 weeks for them to be ready. However, it is a more labor intensive method, and I only reserve it for emergencies and precious fig specimens. |
