Many had already agreed with the suggestion to have a new annual thread. So, let us have the new thread (Annual Wish-List of 6 Cuttings for 2012-13) started on  the first day of summer.

Please list the 6 most desirable cuttings on your wish-list for the year 2012-13.

It is advisable to have only one post per member as far as actual wish-list is concerned, keeping it updated as required in order to keep your post valid and the thread efficient.  Good luck with your wish-List.

Here is my wish-list:

- Verdal  (got it )

- Sal Carleon (got it)

- Vale Negra  (got it)
- Hative (Native) Du Argentile  (...forgot it)

- Caucasus 3 (got it)

-          I will have cuttings for trade/exchange, or for cost of postage and handling as required.
Best wishes to all for all seasons.

I have pretty much just one wish:

Smith

If I'm going to be sneaking around with an extra fig in a pot, it better be a good one.  Cannot afford to buy any figs anyways, but it's nice to have daydreams.

I'll join the party. I've got many varieties for cutting swaps next winter - at least 20 and possibly twice that depending on the progress of cuttings rooted this spring. I will also have some yearling plants for plant swaps from those same rooted cuttings.

I don't need more, I just want 'em. As with many other collectors here, my wife thinks I'm nuts...and she's probably right.

Col de Dame Gris
Madeleine Des Deux Saisons (Angelique, Early Lemon) - acquired

Bumped up today, on the first day of fall. It is about time.
We already had two nights of 4 deg C (39F). All leaves are still green though and a lot of fat hard fig on the trees, some 2 dozens figs on Kadota. None of the kadota has ripened But that does not bother me after I found that my RDB plant had ripened all fruits between mid-August and early September.
I am going to try removing leaves by cutting off  3/4 of each leaf leaving the stem on the branches of Kadota and see if it helps but unfortunately the next sunny day is days away.

Ottawan,

I maybe able to send you Sucrette cuttings or make an air layer for you. i know air layer for sure next season. I think Sal's Corleone is similar or very similar to weeping fig & Aldo. WP & Aldo are good variants. I have all 3 and I may have spare plants. I will be getting a Bellone plant as mine died. I will check my plants when I get back. Also can you update me on what you like. I know your JH Adriatic is one that I need to send you. i will send Barbillone cuttings as air layer did not root when I last check about a week ago. This season have not been kind on my air layers -- so many not taking & the dog + racoon have broken many. I would be home next week.

I heard Vale Negra is much similar to VdB, Negronne & Petite Aubique. I don't have VN even though I was promised & never pursue it as it is too similar.

Thanks Paully
I started the thread in the interest of those who joined later recently and are not familiar with the thread. Very soon members may start trading cuttings so the thread could be one of the vehicles.
Thanks for remembering.

JD--What does it mean when the wording is in light gray and how did you do that?

Does that mean you already found your O'Rourke?

Here are the ones I am currently actively seeking:

1. Persistant Caprifig (prefer red or purple, but others are needed) pending
2. Vista
3. Pastiliere
4. Ronde de Bordeaux
5. Lebanese Red

Not quite six, but I have been lucky in finding most of the figs I originally was looking for.

On last years top six wish list, I had seven listed.  I don't know what came over me, and I apologize for my apparent greediness.  Currently, I have some suggestions listed in my signature line in alphabetical order by height.

Going into fall, I will not make the same mistake I made last year.  I have shown great restraint and kept my official wish list to six... as follows:

1) Iranian Figs
2) Other Middle Eastern Figs
3) Portuguese Figs
4) Greek Figs
5) Italian Figs
6) Fig trees which originated in the Belleclaire collection

I am also open to the possibility of any other figs one might think is good, but please remember... I am exercising restraint.

Thanks in advance,
~james

I see one problem with your list James, there are no spanish figs, french figs or lebanese figs, my mistake, I meant Mediterranean figs.

I sorry to poke fun but you made me laugh and blush that I was not so clever with my list.

Chivas,

You are right.  I should have had asked for Mediterranean Figs.  That would have encompassed French and Spanish figs and left either the Italian and Greek slot opened for other figs.  I suppose there is always next year.
