I also saw that fig on ebay and thought it one of the prettiest figs I've seen. I was even thinking of bidding till the price took off. Hopefully it tastes as good as it looks.

Appetizing looking fig. Congrats to Bass and the "new owner". I guess i have to look around harder in Vancouver,Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa. There are thousands of fig trees here in Vancouver & the ethnic community here is large. Just look at Adriano's collection. Some are gems if grown in similar climatic conditions where they originated.

Good luck Howie.

Consider me one of your new 100 best friends. ;) ;)

With a fig as desirable as this one, if you get it, you could make some really nice trades for those cuttings and get everything on your wishlist .... and probably more.

405.00 I'm sorry, you guys are nuts. I'm happy for Bass, but that's just crazy. Looks like I'm done with e-bay, I can't compete with the rich guys. Have at it.

Supply and demand. How many times has this beautiful looking fig appeared?

That's not just supply and demand, that's having money, and more money then the next person. Rich and the richer. I not saying it's a bad thing, I'm saying, I'm not rich or richer. Seeing the prices lately on ebay, tells me people with alot more money then I, are bidding on fig trees. I'm thrilled for the sellers, just know I can't bid these prices. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure if I personally know someone that could bid 405.00 on a small fig tree. If you can spend this kind of money on this, I'm happy for you, really. I think if you can afford it, buy three or four. I have bought many trees of ebay, but at these prices, I'm out.

Wooh, that is steep. So just wait till the premium figs "col de dame(s)" come out on eBay. That will be fun to watch.

Lol you're too funny. Hit me up next year, I'll spread the love and send you some cuttings.

Some things in life are worth it. I mean how else would I acquire a tree from Galicia? That to me is priceless. Life's too short, not to sample that amazing purple pulp!!

Col de dame is the new premier fig?  I'll have to throw some more fertilizer on the cutting I started this year.
Wooh, that is steep. So just wait till the premium figs "col de dame(s)" come out on eBay. That will be fun to watch.
These bidding wars on ebay for figs has the makings of a new reality tv show,  "Fig Wars"

My congrats to Bass for breaking this crazy, crazy fig-world $$$ record.
A really nice find.

Is Galiica the NW tip of Spain?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galicia_%28Spain%29

Congrats also to the winner too.
I do sense some sentimental (place/memory) involved in that aggressive biding.

If such a case, one should point it very clearly (before hand), and we
good FF members do take care of any such genuine requests.

Right now, I am taking care for one such a special request for BC#95.

Also, thank you Edarena, for (quite a while back) sending me my special request for a BC#35...

You are moving?  Oh no!  I was thinking if you put it in the ground it will grow enough cuttings for all of us!

I missed the whole bidding drama.  I thought you already won it on my first post when you were high bidder.  Too busy with grandkids here in Cincinnati.  So very happy for you and Bass, and good luck finding that new house!

Congratulations on the baby!

Bass has posted a second one on e-bay. My guess is you better start with a min. 300.00 starting bid. You guys will waste your time with small bids. Will we see 450.00 on this one?

Here we go again. I agree, this is like a game show or reality show. What fun.
Just had to put in a bid, and now I'm done. Kind of like buying a lotto ticket except my chances are 0.
