I have my last batch in a large plastic bin. They are nearly ready for the outside humidity which is good because they're very close to being too tall for this bin - they're growing great! I feel like I'm getting the hang of this fig growing business. I lost a handful but overall pleased with the success rate. I use rooting cubes and all cuttings are 2-4 nodes per cube.





The leaves on some of these cuttings are as big as my hand!




But hiding under these HUGE leaves are some eaten leaves! Something is getting in there and eating my fig leaves! Any clue as to what? I have taken everyone out to look for the culprit but haven't found any guilty parties. Despite the munchies they seem to be chugging along just fine.

can't say what did that, but i saw bunch of inch worm eating my cherry blossom and roses few weeks back. but they seems to have left my figs alone.

I've had green inch worm do the very same looking damage. They were almost impossible to seee because the blended in so well, take a more closer look.

Nicole, be sure to check underneath each leaf real good.

Very very close. They're handling their time without the lid very well. I'm hoping to have the lid off completely within a week, then time to pot up!

Sounds like I'm going to be looking for a teeny tiny inch worm under the leaves when I get home tonight.

Nichole...it's not only that you're looking for a very tiny inch worm, but you're looking for one that is the exact same color as the leaves that it is eating...same as the tomato horned worm...my son had three tomato plants on the deck last summer, and one of them was having the leaves severly eaten by one of those worms...so my wife and I went over all three plants with a fine tooth comb (under the leaves too) and still could not find that thing...and so the feasting went on and on...   :(  :(

I wonder if there is a "safe" spray I can use that the worms don't like? I'll have to do some poking on the internet... I'm worried I won't find the little culprit...they're bright green and so are the leaves.

Dust them with Dipel Dust. It's the powdered form of Thuricide and is completely non toxic. Kills all kinds of munching worms. I get it at WalMart, Lowes, HD,etc. Be sure to get under the leaves too. I use a duster to apply it to my tomatoes.  Your cuttings look great. Good luck!
